Reflections from our Bookshelf: Winning

Winning: The Unforgiving Race to Greatness
By: Tim Grover
Reflection by: Andrew Brown

Why I read it?

The author, Tim Grover, has trained several high-profile athletes and business leaders. I had heard of his writing from several friends, and as a former college athlete this was an interesting topic to me.

What is it all about?

This book focuses on the habits and traits that make many of Tim’s clients the best in their respected professions. Much of the writing focuses on personal stories from years of experience training the likes of Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan.

What caused me to pause?

Reflecting on this book made me realize that I have a lot more to give than I sometimes think. It’s easy to fall in a trap of becoming complacent in my marriage, friendships, or work, and this was a good reminder to keep working to develop in each of these areas.

How will this book change my habits or influence me?

After reading this book, I find that I’m more conscious about how I approach each day. Showing up every day ready to put in work is great, but it is an entirely different matter to show up with purpose and direction.

Add this to your reading list if… you want to challenge an inner belief that you are pushing as hard as you can.
