Leading with Gratitude

Why I Read It?

Each year, I try to begin journaling things I’m grateful for. Like many New Year’s Resolutions, I typically only last until mid-February. I always attempt to complete this resolution because I know the positive impact that practicing gratitude can have on my mindset and daily outlook. When I came across this book, I was curious to see how I could apply gratitude more consistently into my professional life.

What is it all about?

“Leading with Gratitude” provides practical strategies to cultivate gratitude, specifically in the workplace. For instance, it emphasizes the importance of expressing gratitude in real time and tailoring the gesture to suit the recipient’s preferred communication style.

What caused me to pause?

While the emotional benefits of expressing gratitude are well known, the data provided in this book was eye-opening! Beyond improving employee stress levels, data has shown that building gratitude into workplace culture can lead up to 2x great profitability and 20% higher customer satisfaction.

How will this book change habits or influence me?

Since reading this book, I have made it a point to tell those around me that I am thankful for them as much as possible. One of the most impactful practices I recommend is creating a “Favorite Emails” folder to archive messages of appreciation which can be revisited at any time!
